TT4 AK47 1

The AK-47 is an assault rifle that appears in Thing-Thing, Thing-Thing 4, and unusable in Thing-Thing Arena 2.

Overview[]

Reality[]

The Avtomat Kalashnikova model 1947 (AK-47) is arguably the most used firearm in history. Designed by Soviet Mikhail Kalashnikov following his World War II service, the name means "Kalashnikov's Automatic Rifle, Model of 1947." While second to the German StG 44 as the first assault rifle, the AK-47 is mechanically simpler and extremely reliable. Chambered for the 7.62x39mm cartridge, it was officially adopted by the Soviet Army in 1949 and has been used in conflicts worldwide ever since.

Thing-Thing[]

Initially, its first appearance is marked as a cheats-only weapon. It also uses exclusive ammunition. Its high damage and rapid fire rate make it one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

Of note is that Project 154 is able to shoot the assault rifle one handed, with little recoil. Interestingly, its charging handle also reciprocates between each shot.

Thing-Thing Arena 2[]

Even though it is not a playable weapon, it appears in the game's initial intro, looking almost identical to the same weapon in Thing-Thing 4. It is used in semi-automatic fire by Project 154 after being discovered by System Corp. Soldiers hacking a computer. 154 kills the soldiers with one headshot, after which they discard it.

Thing-Thing 4[]

In its second and final appearance, the AK-47 will be dropped by enemies carrying it, appearing after the first elevator. It is a fully-automatic rifle that uses 7.62x39mm ammo. It has more damage than other assault rifles, comparable only to the Krinkov, which has a higher rate of fire.

Trivia[]

  • It appears in Thing-Thing Arena 2's intro, used by Project 154, but it's not available in game
  • The sprite in Thing-Thing 4 is likely a modified AKS without its classic stock and with polymer instead of wood, or a much more modern AK-104 that can be modified with a scope.
